Directory & Org Chart

Browse team members, organizational hierarchy view, and search by name/skill.

The Directory and Org Chart let you browse team members, see the organizational hierarchy, and search by name or skill. Use them to understand reporting structure, find people, and see how teams are organized.

Directory

The Directory is a browsable list of people in your organization (within the scope of your permissions).

Browsing the directory

  1. Go to Directory (from the main nav or search).
  2. Scroll or paginate through the list. You may see name, role, department, and sometimes photo.
  3. Use filters — If available, filter by department, location, or role to narrow the list.
  4. Click a person — Open their profile to see more (skills, projects, contact) as allowed.

When to use the directory

  • You want to see who’s in the org or in a team.
  • You’re browsing rather than searching for a specific skill (for skill-based search, use People Finder).
  • You need a quick way to find someone by name.

Org Chart

The Org Chart shows the reporting hierarchy — who reports to whom. It’s usually based on manager relationships (e.g. manager → direct reports).

Viewing the org chart

  1. Go to Org Chart (often under Directory or a dedicated nav item).
  2. Top level — You may see the top of the org or your own branch.
  3. Navigate — Expand a node to see that person’s direct reports; click names to open profiles.
  4. Scope — Depending on permissions, you might see the full org or only your part of the tree.

Use the org chart to understand structure, find “who reports to whom,” and see your own place in the hierarchy.

Search by Name

In both Directory and Org Chart you can usually search by name:

  1. Use the search box.
  2. Type a first or last name (or both).
  3. Results list matching people. Click to open their profile.

Search is useful when you know who you’re looking for but not their team or role.

Search by Skill

Some directory or org views offer search or filter by skill (e.g. “Show people with skill X”). When available:

  • Enter a skill or capability name.
  • The list or chart may filter to people who have that skill (or show a badge).

For deeper skill-based discovery and match scores, use People Finder, which is built for that.

What You Can See

Visibility is controlled by your organization:

  • Directory — You typically see people within your tenant; some orgs restrict by department or location.
  • Org Chart — You may see the full tree or only your branch (e.g. your manager and peers).
  • Profiles — Clicking someone may show role, contact, skills, and projects depending on permissions.

If you don’t see someone or a part of the tree, it may be due to scope or permissions.

Tip: Use Directory for “who’s here” and name lookup; use People Finder for “who can do X”; use Org Chart for “who reports to whom.”
