1:1 Facilitator Guide Overview
What 1:1 facilitators do in SkillHouse — a separate role from manager, permissions, and quick links.
SkillHouse gives 1:1 facilitators (1:1ers) tools to run development conversations, track meetings, and view relevant context for the people they facilitate 1:1s with. The 1:1 facilitator role is explicitly separate from the manager role: you do not have to be someone's manager to be their 1:1er.
1:1 Facilitator vs Manager
| Concept | What it means |
|---|---|
| Manager | Reporting relationship in the org chart. Defines who reports to whom. One manager per person. |
| 1:1 Facilitator (1:1er) | Person who runs 1:1 conversations with another. Can be anyone in the company — not necessarily their manager. Used for mentoring, career follow-up, and feedback. |
A person can have a different manager (org chart) and a different 1:1 facilitator. The org chart reflects only manager relations; the 1:1 tree reflects who facilitates 1:1s with whom.
What 1:1 Facilitators Can Do
| Area | What's available |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | Overview of facilitees, upcoming meetings, action items from past 1:1s |
| Meetings | Create and manage 1:1 meetings, add notes, feedback, and action items; track status (scheduled, completed, cancelled) |
| AI Agenda Suggestions | Generate contextual agendas with "Suggest with AI" based on the person's skills, OKRs, learning, feedback, and more |
| Meeting Templates | Use reusable templates to structure meetings with static talking points and dynamic context blocks |
| 1:1 Structure | View the 1:1 facilitation tree showing who facilitates whom |
| Performance & Projects | Read-only view of each facilitee's performance data and project assignments (visibility only; no editing) |
You only see data for people you have a 1:1 relation with (your facilitees). You do not see other colleagues' data unless you are also their manager or have another role that grants access.
Permissions
Access to 1:1 features is controlled by permissions (PBAC). Typical 1:1-related permissions include:
| Permission | Typical use |
|---|---|
one_on_one:dashboard | See the 1:1 dashboard and facilitee overview |
one_on_one:meetings | Create, edit, and manage 1:1 meetings; add notes and action items |
one_on_one:feedback | Give and view feedback in the 1:1 context |
one_on_one:performance_read | Read-only access to facilitees' performance data (assessments, cycles) |
one_on_one:projects_read | Read-only access to facilitees' project assignments |
one_on_one:notes | Add and view meeting notes |
Your admin assigns these permissions via roles (e.g. a "1:1er" role). You only need the 1:1 permissions; you do not need manager permissions to facilitate 1:1s.
Accessing the 1:1 View
- Log in to SkillHouse and open the main navigation.
- Go to 1:1 (or the equivalent label in your tenant).
- You'll land on the 1:1 Dashboard. Use the sidebar to open Meetings or Performance & Projects.
You only see the 1:1 section if your account has 1:1 facilitator permissions for the current tenant. Who appears as your facilitees is determined by person relations (who is assigned as your 1:1 partner), not by the org chart.
